Frequently Asked Questions

We’re an open‑book campaign. If you don’t see your question answered below, click the button and ask us - our team reads every message and replies fast. The button will jump you to the question form at the bottom of this page.

1. “What is SRP, in plain English?”

SRP is a community‑based, not‑for‑profit that keeps the Valley’s water flowing and lights on.

  • Manages a ~13,000‑sq‑mi watershed and 7 reservoirs that deliver about 244 billion gallons of water a year to Greater Phoenix.

  • Provides electric service across ~2,800 sq mi and powers more than 1.2 million people in central Arizona.

  •

Why it matters: SRP’s decisions affect your water reliability, infrastructure investments, and long‑term costs - so who leads SRP matters!

2. “Who can vote in SRP elections, and how many votes do I get?”

  • Who can vote: Landowners inside SRP’s voting boundaries (or an appointed trustee for qualifying trusts). For the District election, voters must also be Arizona residents and registered to vote. Ownership is determined 100 days before the election.

  • How votes are counted: Most positions are elected on an acreage basis - e.g., 1 acre = 1 vote; ½ acre = ½ vote.

If you’re unsure whether your parcel qualifies, check SRP’s voting map or call the SRP Elections Information Line listed on their site.

3. “When is the next SRP election, and how do I get a ballot?”

  • When: SRP holds elections on the first Tuesday in April of even‑numbered years. The next election is April 7, 2026.

  • How to vote: You can vote by early mail‑in ballot or in person at the SRP Voting Center; follow the steps on SRP’s How to Vote page to request your ballot and see key dates.

Our campaign stands for affordability, reliability, and long‑term water security for landowners across Phoenix/Scottsdale and the Valley. (That’s our north star in every decision.)

4. Why does SRP hold its own elections?

SRP is not a typical utility - it’s a community-based, not-for-profit organization governed by landowners, not appointed officials. These elections ensure that local voices guide decisions about Arizona’s water and power, keeping leadership accountable to the people who live and work here.

5. What does the SRP Board and Council actually do?

SRP’s elected Board and Council members oversee critical policies that impact water delivery, power generation, and long-term infrastructure planning. They help set budgets, approve major projects, and shape sustainability goals - decisions that affect rates, reliability, and Arizona’s water future.
